The University of Adelaide German Club (AUGC) is nearly sixty years old - but that didn’t stop us being awarded Club of the Year in 2011 and 2014.
We are a social club on campus with an emphasis on German culture, history and language. You don’t have to be German, speak German or study German to join our club: you just have to be interested in Germany, and in fun!
We organise several major events each year, including (but not limited to!) the Not-So-Amazing- Race scavenger hunt, a German Play, beer tastings, an Oktoberfest-style party, two pub crawls, and the always competitive Quiz Night and Soccer Match against the French Club. Along side these are a host of smaller events- members-only BBQs, day-trips to Hahndorf and a night at the German Film Festival.
Besides these special events, the club organises weekly services like the German Speaking Hour to hone your conversation skills, or the English- speaking KaffeeKlatsch coffee hour. This list is by no means exhaustive; come and find us in O’Week for the full spiel.
People join for lots of reasons: to practice their German, learn about Germany, meet Germans, make friends. Whatever the reason to join, the German Club makes your academic year that little more bearable with good times and good friends.
IMPORTANT: Joining the club on this website does not sign you up to be a member, nor does it add you to our mailing list. Please email us for or come along to one of our events (see facebook page) to sign up.
